Job Description:
RESEARCH ASSISTANTS (2 POSITIONS AVAILBLE):
GRANT-FUNDED PROJECT ON GUN VIOLENCE (MASS SHOOTINGS)
The Rockefeller Institute of Government (the Institute), part of the State University of New York (SUNY), is seeking to hire two (2) research assistants (graduate students preferred but will consider advanced undergraduates) to assist on a federally funded research project examining mass shootings and warning communications / behaviors. These positions are expected to begin on or about October 1, 2024, and continue through June 30, 2025. Positions may extend beyond that date, contingent upon availability of funding. Job Duties:
Research assistants will assist the project's investigators with data collection and coding for the project. This will include completing and submitting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to law enforcement agencies and courts across the U.S., cataloging and coding data received, and creating case narrative summaries. Pending timing and the availability of funding, research assistants may have the opportunity to assist with data analysis. Training will be provided for all project-related tasks.
